2025 Signed with the Stallions on March 5, 2025. Prior to the Stallions The Memphis Showboats selected him during the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. Played in eight total games for Memphis last season, making six starts. Threw for 989 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024 and completed 99-of-161 total passes on the season. Continued his playing career after the Stars folded when the USFL merged with the XFL just prior to last year. Made the return undercenter for the Stars in 2023, starting all 10 games that year. The veteran threw for 2,294 yards and 15 touchdowns during the 2023 campaign. Agreed to a practice squad deal with the Los Angeles Rams towards the end of the 2022 season, and became a free agent when his contract expired at the end of the Rams’ season. Posted an impressive 2022 season with Philly, throwing for 1,334 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year. Finished the 2022 campaign with a completion percentage of 62.5 on 130-of-208 passes thrown, and picked up his lone rushing touchdown of his professional career that season with the Stars. Led his team to the 2022 North Division title over the New Jersey Generals and a championship game appearance against the Birmingham Stallions, but departed the game early with a leg injury. ● Was drafted in the 12th round of the 2022 USFL Draft by the Philadelphia Stars and started 19 of his 21 games played with the Stars during the 2022 and 2023 seasons ● Before making the transition to spring football, Cookus spent time with the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Las Vegas Raiders and the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League. ● Signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2020. ● Spent his college years playing at Northern Arizona University playing for Jerome Souers from 2015 to 2019. ● Had an incredible collegiate career for the Lumberjacks, threw for 12,082 yards, 105 touchdowns, 21 interceptions and completed 892-of-1,431 of his total passes thrown.
