Rules & Scoring
Everything you need to know about how News Hub Fantasy works
League Format
News Hub Fantasy supports head-to-head fantasy football leagues for both the CFL and UFL. Leagues are season-long competitions where you draft a team of real players, set weekly lineups, and earn points based on their real-world performance.
Roster Positions
Each team drafts 12 players across the following positions. Active lineup slots score points each week, while bench players are reserves you can swap in before games lock.
| Position | Slots | Description |
|---|---|---|
| QB | 1 | Quarterback |
| RB | 2 | Running Back |
| WR | 2 | Wide Receiver |
| TE | 1 | Tight End |
| FLEX | 1 | RB, WR, or TE |
| K | 1 | Kicker |
| DEF | 1 | Team Defense / Special Teams |
| BN | 3 | Bench (reserve players) |
| Total | 12 |
Draft Rules
Snake Draft Format
All leagues use a snake draft. The pick order reverses each round, so if you pick 1st in round 1, you pick last in round 2, then 1st again in round 3. This balances the advantage of having an early pick.
Timed Picks
Each pick has a time limit set by the league commissioner (typically 60-90 seconds). A countdown timer displays during your turn. If you don't pick in time, auto-draft selects the best available player based on position needs.
Auto-Draft
If you miss your turn or aren't online, the system will automatically draft a player for you. Auto-draft considers your current roster composition and prioritizes filling starting lineup positions before adding bench depth.
League Must Be Full
The draft cannot begin until all team slots in the league are filled. Make sure to invite your friends and have everyone joined before the scheduled draft time.
Position Limits
During the draft, there are position limits to ensure balanced rosters. You can draft at most 2 QBs, 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 DEF. The remaining picks can be used flexibly on RBs and WRs.
Default Scoring
These are the default scoring settings. League commissioners can customize these values before the draft begins.

Waivers & Trades
Waiver Wire
After each week, unclaimed players go on waivers. Teams submit waiver claims in priority order based on standings (worst record gets first priority). If you have the highest priority, you get the player. Free agents not on waivers can be added directly.
Trades
Trades can be proposed between any two teams in the same league. Both team owners must accept the trade for it to go through. The league commissioner can review and veto trades to prevent collusion or unfair deals.
CFL vs UFL Differences
While the core fantasy rules are the same for both leagues, there are a few key differences based on the real-world rules of each football league.
CFL
- 3-point conversion scoring (rouge)
- 9 professional teams
- Season runs June through November
- Larger field and 3 downs
UFL
- Standard 2-point conversion only
- 8 professional teams
- Season runs March through June
- Standard NFL-sized field and 4 downs
